Panic attacks seem to be something that you think of adults as having and not children, but in actual fact children can suffer from panic disorder also. It can often be overlooked with children as it isn’t expected for them to suffer from panic attacks.

Children and parents are very competitive today and as a result kids are under a lot of pressure to perform well and be the best at what they do. They can become extremely upset when they fail or even if they just don’t perform quite up to standard and in some cases are scolded by their peers for their failure.

Other causes of panic disorder in children can be family problems, which might include parents that are constantly fighting or even sibling rivalry can become a big problem for some children.

Children will often be a bit hesitant to talk about these feelings that they have which can increase their anxieties even more

• Sleeping too much or not getting enough sleep
• Always sad
• Becoming angry or violent without a reason
• Loss of appetitie
• Then there are also the symptoms similar to adults including feeling of not being able to breathe, dizziness, overwhelming fear, etc.

As with adults, once a child has experienced a panic attack they will fear another one occurring which will increase their tension and anxiety even more. Try to keep your child happy and stress free and if you suspect that your child may be suffering from anxiety or panic disorder, it really is best to seek help for them and help them to overcome it. No child deserves to live their life in fear, so help them to beat this awful disorder so they can be happy again.

Is It Possible To Cure Panic Attacks?

Medication

Medications such as Benzodiazepines and Antidepressants are often used in the treatment of panic attacks. Medications however will only help with the symptoms of the attacks and not cure the disorder. This can be helpful as if you can reduce the symptoms then it can be easier in dealing with the problem and overcoming it. It is important to remember though that they do only relieve the symptoms and need to be combined with some type of therapy to overcome the disorder completely.
